Close down the process then download the eicar test virus http://www.eicar.org/anti_virus_test_file.htm and you will find that avguard is still running which protects you. avguard does not appear in stsrtup it runs automatically , avgnt can be removed from startup after the update schedule has been set and the updater will still run. However this way you will have to terminate avgnt again afterwards. I prefer to chain my browser launch to "preupd.exe" which just launchs the updater at browser launch so I do not forget.
